This page explains what information AvailaBooks collects through availabooks.com and the pages under /blogger, and how it's used. It doesn't cover any individual author's own Blogger-hosted book — those are separate blogs, run under that author's own Google account, and governed by Google's policies and whatever that author discloses to her own readers.
AvailaBooks is a small, self-service project — not a large company with a dedicated privacy team. If anything here is unclear, or you want to know what information we have about you, the fastest path is to just ask: availabooks@gmail.com.
The "Interested in authoring opportunities?" form on the main page (name, institution, area of expertise, email address, phone number, and any note you add) is submitted directly to a Google Form we use to manage that list. We use it only to follow up with you about authoring and assessment opportunities, and we don't sell it or hand it to advertisers. Because it's a Google Form, Google's own privacy policy also applies to that submission.
This site is served through Cloudflare. Like effectively any web host, Cloudflare's edge network processes standard connection information to deliver pages and guard against abuse — things like IP address, browser/device information, the page requested, and timestamps. We don't run our own analytics or advertising trackers on these pages, and we don't set any first-party cookies of our own. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for how they handle that data.
Note: Downloading the theme file or the VS Code extension from the Get Started page doesn't send us anything beyond that same automatic connection information — we don't know who downloaded what.
Installing the AvailaBooks theme on your own Blogger blog, and signing in to Google from the AvailaBooks Blog Tools extension, both work directly between your browser or your computer and Google's own services (Blogger, Google's OAuth sign-in). AvailaBooks never receives, sees, or stores your Google credentials or your blog's content through either of those — the extension talks to Google's Blogger API straight from your machine. Your use of Blogger itself is governed by Google's privacy policy.
When you sign in, Google's consent screen will identify the requesting app as AvailaBooks Blogger Connector. This is the official name of the OAuth client used by the AvailaBooks Blog Tools extension described above — it is operated by AvailaBooks at availabooks.com, and is not a third-party or unaffiliated application requesting access to your account.
The AvailaBooks Blog Tools extension uses this OAuth client to securely authenticate your account and access Google's Blogger API. Our extension's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will strictly adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
If you go on to use AvailaBooks.com's paid assessment and gradebook integration (app.availabooks.com), that's a separate product with its own account system and its own privacy policy — this page only covers the availabooks.com marketing and get-started pages under /blogger.
This site links out to a few places we don't control — Blogger, an example book hosted on its own blogspot.com subdomain, and the Google Form mentioned above. Once you follow one of those links, that site's own privacy practices apply, not this one.
AvailaBooks is aimed at college instructors and authors, not children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
If you've submitted the authoring-interest form and want to know what we have on file, or want it deleted, email availabooks@gmail.com and we'll take care of it.
If how we handle information changes, we'll update this page and move the "last updated" date at the top.
